Dear River Reach Family,
Now Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. 6 And the land could not sustain them while dwelling together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to remain together. 7 And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. Now the Canaanite and the Perizzite were dwelling then in the land.” Genesis 13:5-7
Conflict is an unavoidable part of life in this fallen world. It could be conflict over money, which restaurant you will choose for dinner, who will take out the trash, where you will live, etc. The natural inclination is to survey the scene and fight for the outcome that will most benefit ourselves. For some marriages, this type of angling takes place in nearly every point of contention. The result is a very unpleasant relationship. A life of faith will impact the way we approach conflict. A mature believer will willingly surrender his or her own rights to God and choose to serve others in love. This Sunday we will observe Abram exercise faith to resolve conflict with his nephew Lot. Faith at work in conflict will greatly reduce tension and glorify God.
Sermon Title: “Faith’s Solution To Strife” – Genesis 13:1-18
New Members Class Beginning March 12th @ 9:25am
The Lord has blessed us with a number of new people in our church. We are excited to see what God is doing as He builds His church. The Bible teaches that spiritual accountability and church membership is Christ’s design for believers in this age. Starting March 12th at 9:25am, I will be starting a new members class to introduce you to our church, answer questions that you might have, and explain how to become a member of River Reach Baptist Church. If you are not yet a member of our church, I would be delighted to have you join us in this class.
Note: The regular adult Sunday class will continue as normal during this time for all others.
Last Sunday Sermon Audio Available
This past Sunday several of you were sick and unable to join us. I have uploaded the sermon to the website here. The sermon title was: “When God Rescues Us From Ourselves” – Genesis 12:10-20. If you have opportunity to listen, I believe it will be an encouragement to you! The slides are also available for download. You can listen on any device by following the link above.
