Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

A Disciple’s Choice 3/1

Dear River Reach Family,

When they had entered the city, they went up to the upper room where they were staying; that is, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. 14 These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.”

Acts 1:13-14

A federal judge ruled last Friday that the law requiring men — but not women — to register for a U.S. military draft is unconstitutional. Thankfully drafting people into military service hasn’t been necessary since 1973. Our current military is filled with those who serve our nation voluntarily. Similarly, though our Lord calls every one of us to be His witnesses, He does not force any one to serve Him. Every act of service in the kingdom of God is performed 100% voluntarily. Faith in Jesus Christ provides motivation for service. After Jesus left the earth, His 11 disciples returned to Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit as they had been instructed (Acts 1:12). Our passage for this Sunday highlights the two choices one may make toward serving Christ.

Sermon: “A Disciple’s Choice” – Acts 1:12-26

Men’s Meeting / Workday tomorrow morning at 8:30am

Tomorrow, with God’s help, the men will be installing new LED parking lot lights! We praise the Lord for providing the purchase of these lights through the faithful giving of our people. If you are a man, we could use your help! If you are not able to attend, please pray for safety as we rent a lift and work 20′ in the air.
