Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

Resurrection = Proven Truth – Revelation 1:17-19

Dear River Reach Family,

 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

Revelation 1:17-18

Two weeks ago I had a conversation with a Hindu priest. In the casual conversation he mentioned that he was responsible for preparing food on a regular basis in his home and carrying it to the temple a few blocks away to sacrifice to the idols in the temple. This man was probably in his 70’s and had been a practicing Hindu for his entire life. Whether through a religion, a secular ideology or world view, or simply by cultural default, every human being is living their life based on what they believe to be true. Based on this observation many today even believe that it doesn’t matter what you believe, that everyone can be right because there is no such thing as absolute truth. Why do you believe what you believe? If you are reading this, you are most likely someone who is inclined to believe the Bible and to believe in Jesus Christ. What makes you think you can trust the Bible and the God of the Bible? Through God’s timing, our study in Revelation perfectly coincides with our celebration of Easter. In our passage for this Sunday, Jesus shares the reason why you should believe everything He says in this Book. Jesus Christ’s credibility and our faith find their foundation in one historical event. Jesus Christ died, was buried, and on the third day rose from the dead (Revelation 1:17-18) just as He had promised! (Matthew 16:21; Luke 18:33; et. al.) Jesus proved His veracity by rising from the dead. He crafted this miracle to demonstrate His deity and authority. Because Jesus rose from the dead He holds our destiny in His hands! (Rev. 1:18) I hope you will join us this Sunday as we let Christ convince us that He alone is “the Truth”.
