Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

Behold He is Coming! – Intro to Revelation

Dear River Reach Family,

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,

Revelation 1:1

God is up to something in His world! From the very first sin in the Garden of Eden and the subsequent curse, our world has been broken and every human being feels the brokenness. The entire Bible looks to the future when God will restore all things and make it right again. Inspired writers of Scriptures throughout the history of revelation have longed to know the unfolding and timing of God’s plan to make it right (1 Peter 1:10-11). The prophets were perplexed by the suffering of the Christ but rejoiced in the glories that would follow His suffering. As the believer’s suffering for Christ increased so also did their longing for the promised return of their Lord and the glories He would bring! Our Lord knew that knowing the “end of the story” would be a source of sustaining grace for His suffering servants. Though only God the Father Himself knows the timing of Christ’s return (Matthew 24:36), we join the multitudes of believers throughout the church age and Paul who feel like He must be coming soon! (1 Thessalonians 4:15) I am thrilled to begin this study in the Book of Revelation this Sunday and I hope you will join me as we anticipate the blessings the Lord will send to us as we study this book! (Revelation 1:3)
