No More Gloom! Isaiah 9:1-7

Dear River Reach Family,

But there will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish… 2 The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them.

Isaiah 9:1-2

2020 has been a difficult year and it doesn’t look like the anguish will end on December 31st. While external pressures, health crisis, societal tensions, and financial pressures squeeze us, they only distract us from the much more dangerous hazard of sin within our own hearts. After this year there should be no question about whether or not mankind is broken. We have added one more short chapter to a massive volume of history recording the brokenness of man and our world. We are part of that broken world. We are born sinners adding to the gloom and anguish of our world. Praise God for sending Light into our hopeless world! Light that radiates from one God-man born to drive back all gloom and relieve all anguish! This Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus who brought life and Light for all! This Sunday morning we will turn our gaze from the gloom and anguish to the Light of God who came to rescue us. Because of Jesus we don’t have to live in gloom and anguish of heart. Let’s turn our gaze from the gloom to the Light! (Isaiah 9:2)
