Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

Prevailing through the Storms – Acts 19:20-41

Dear River Reach Family,

So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing.

Acts 19:20

It’s amazing how fast and often crises arise. Sometimes they arise in a matter of moments when a tragedy or high stress emergency strike. Other times, tensions that have been seething in the background come to a boil and now everything seems at the point of collapse. Even in the center of God’s will, He allows storms to arise in our lives (Matthew 8:23-25). By his third missionary journey, Paul knew that “storms” often lay just around the corner. With such clear and present danger always on the horizon, what should be our mindset? Should we live in constant fear, worry, or anxiety? Should we take each step of obedience with apprehension? Thankfully our passage for this Sunday joins the chorus of many passages throughout Scripture urging us to trust our Lord’s grace and remain steadfast even in the midst of the storm. The Lord’s power empowers us to prevail over all opposition to His will.
