Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

River Reach News 8/4

Dear River Reach Family,

Now Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. 2 Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan; and Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.” Genesis 23:1-2

Each generation, each individual is responsible to walk by faith.  The Holy Spirit has been leading us on a tour through the life of Abraham.  Just when you feel like you are really getting to know and enjoy this man of faith we find his life winding down.  Last week was the climax of Abraham’s life.  He reached the point where he trusted and obeyed God above all else.  Feelings, comfort, relationships, family were all placed on the altar of sacrifice in an act of faith that trusted and honored God.  He worshiped God through sacrifice.  As Abraham’s life winds down, the Bible is just getting started!  This week the Holy Spirit will begin to shift our focus from Abraham and Sarah and point us to the next generation.  Will the next generation continue to walk in faith?  Transition is never comfortable, yet it is God’s good plan.  Faith will carry the older generation to their eternal home while the next generation rises to walk in faith.  The brevity of life (yes, even the 127 years God gave Sarah) ought to drive us to walk by faith.

Sermon: “Finishing the Race” Genesis 23:1-20

Praise the Lord for a wonderful VBS!

The Lord answered our prayers and gave us a wonderful week of VBS!  It was a blessing to see our church family serve the Lord together.  Each person used their gift to reach into the lives of children and families for the glory of God.  The children had a blast!  Did you hear how loud they were roaring on Wednesday evening during the snowshoe race!  Praise the Lord the Gospel was clearly presented to each person that came.  Thank you for taking your time to help pray, decorate, pass out flyers, and serve each night.  For more pictures you may visit our church Facebook page.
