The new year gives us an opportunity to evaluate our priorities. God designed life to force us to reveal our priorities through our actions. Talk is cheap. Actions reveal the heart. The Old Testament book of Haggai gives us a window into God’s confrontation with Judah about their priorities.
Once again we find ourselves just hours away from a new year. From this vantage point we can look back and see that our heavenly Father was faithful and gracious to us once again! We shouldn’t be shocked. Our observation of His actions will always be the same because He will never change. From this position we also look forward to a new year.
Do you ever feel like things are backward and upside down in this life? Are you ever perplexed by the prosperity of the wicked and struggles of the godly? Occasionally we may feel like we could give God a pointer or two on how to make things right in the world! We are not the…
Text: Genesis 3 Meditation on the tactics Satan used to deceive Adam and Eve. He is still using those same lies on us today!
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Anger, hatred, outrage, worry, complaining, and their close companions seems to have taken over the news media, social media, talk shows, politics, and even popular fictional entertainment. Sinning or unbelieving husbands make it difficult for their families. In that difficult situation, the Lord asks believing wives to demonstrate true love and humility in the form of submission within boundaries of God’s will. God can use such humility to work on the hardened heart of her husband.
Long before the unlimited cell phone plan God invented the unlimited prayer connection. No expensive hardware or bluetooth connection is necessary to talk to the most important person in the universe! He invites us to stay on the line and converse endlessly with Him. Not one moment spent in prayer is ever a waste of time. Praying is one of the most profitable and important uses of our time. In this sermon we will meditate on why we should never stop praying.
I’m sure we’ve all heard people opine, “I’ve had a bad day!” On significantly less frequent occasions we may even hear someone say, “I’ve had a good day today!” Typically tone of voice and body language match the the corresponding proclamations. Would it be possible for someone to reach the end of every day no matter what happened that day and report from their heart, “The Lord was good to me today?” The shortest verse in the Bible addresses one of the biggest struggles we all face, our attitude in trials. The Lord built into the Christian life a clear indicator of our spiritual health. When we walk by faith we will be empowered to rejoice. When our faith and theological perspective is faulty, we will gripe and complain. Never ending rejoicing is not enabled by wonderful circumstances, but by faith that view’s God’s goodness and sovereignty in everything.
What is a beautiful woman? Where would you look to find her? You cannot find a better designer of beauty than God! Christ delights to take sinners and make them beautiful by His grace.
We celebrated the suffering and death of our Savior for us. We celebrated His resurrection 3 days later just as He promised. What now?
