Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

Walking on High Places in 2019

Dear River Reach Family,

Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
18 Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord GOD is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.

Habakkuk 3:17-19

Once again we find ourselves just hours away from a new year. From this vantage point we can look back and see that our heavenly Father was faithful and gracious to us once again! We shouldn’t be shocked. Our observation of His actions will always be the same because He will never change. From this position we also look forward to a new year. A year of unknown blessings and unknown trials. We have no need to fear the unknown because the unchanging character of our God assures us of blessing and success when we trust Him. Habakkuk, an obscure Old Testament prophet of the Lord, graciously received a perspective adjustment concerning his foreboding future. Even if everything should fall apart, the strength of God and His commitment to us assures our future success!

Lunch Fellowship and White Elephant Gift Exchange this Sunday

Following the Morning Service we will have a New Years Lunch fellowship for anyone who doesn’t have other plans.

The church will be provided cooked hams. You may sign up for other food items here.

What is a White Elephant gift exchange?

White elephants are uncommon so I feel the need to share a few more details to help us all be prepared:

  • How it works:
    • Please bring an unmarked gift to share randomly with someone else.
      • Please bring as many gifts for as many members of your family that would like to participate in the fun.
    • We will draw numbers and take turns either picking a gift from the pile or “repossessing” a gift someone else may have already picked.
  • Please don’t buy a gift to share.
  • Gifts may be items:
    • Items from around your house you no longer want or need
    • May be something funny!
    • A gift from Christmas that doesn’t quite fit you
  • Warnings:
    • Don’t expect to be enriched through the gift you recieve.
    • Please bring a light hearted attitude to the fun 🙂
  • Even if you don’t have a gift you are welcome to join us. We will have extra gifts available.
