Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

River Reach News 6/2

Dear River Reach Family,

The LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, 18 since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed? 19 “For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.” Genesis 18:17-19

In the milieu of life, it is easy to forget that God is real.  By design at this point in history, our eyes cannot see God.  Physical realities threaten to override eternal realities.  Faith is required to live for the Lord.  Many people choose to ignore and reject God (Romans 1:18-20).  They deny His existence (Psalm 14:1).  They follow their hearts completely.  The result is a life of rebellion against God and His ways.  We will see this in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18:20-21).  For most of their existence, they had no thought of God or any consequences for their grievous sins.  They thought they could get away with their unrighteousness, but the just Judge will hold them accountable (Genesis 19:27-28).  Abraham and Sarah stand in stark contrast to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.  They are not perfect, but faith motivated them to live for the glory of God.  Their reward on earth was rich and their reward in heaven is even greater.  We are unrighteous, but when we pursue Christ by faith He gives us His righteousness and satisfies perfectly the requirement of God’s justice.  The justice and mercy of God met on the cross and we are blessed!

Baptism this Sunday afternoon!

Our baptism last year!

This Sunday, June 4th, we will be holding a baptismal service at 1:00pm at 1610 Cellar Cir. Jacksonville, FL 32225.  We rejoice that 4 believers have expressed their desire to show their faith by following the Lord in believer’s baptism.  I hope that you will be able to join us for this special time of celebration of Lord’s work in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ.  We will have a lunch fellowship at church following the morning service and then travel to the same location we held our baptism last July.
