Dear River Reach Family,
Now Sarai, Abram’s wife had borne him no children, and she had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar. 2 So Sarai said to Abram, “Now behold, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Please go in to my maid; perhaps I will obtain children through her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.” Genesis 16:1-2
Did you read those verses? A beautiful marriage relationship of many years is in danger of being ruined! How do you get to the point where you make such foolish and sinful choices that lead to massive and long term heartache, pain, and suffering? Abram and Sarai sin in pursuit of obtaining their hearts desire: a child. When we read this account, we scratch our heads and say, “Why?” Let’s not be too hard on Abram and Sarai. More often than we might like to admit, we are be guilty of the same sin though it appears in various forms. When we set our hearts on the blessing God promises rather than on the God who promises the blessing we are charting a course for disaster.
Morning Sermon: “A False Step” Genesis 16:1-6
I want to praise the Lord for what He accomplished this past Sunday. He blessed us with a wonderful day of celebration and kingdom advance. Thank you for your outreach and prayers and service to the Lord. The Lord blessed our labors and brought in eight first time visitors and several returning visitors to hear the Gospel and observe the power of the Gospel at work in our lives. Let’s continue to pray for continued opportunities to point these souls to Jesus Christ.
