Making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ

River Reach News 3/10

Dear River Reach Family,

Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell into them. But those who survived fled to the hill country. 11 Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food supply, and departed. 12 They also took Lot, Abram’s nephew, and his possessions and departed, for he was living in Sodom….  16 He [Abram] brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative Lot with his possessions, and also the women, and the people. Genesis 14:10-12, 16

The promises of self-indulgent living looks so promising!  When God calls us to sacrifice, self-preservation looks so attractive to the flesh. To the flesh,  watching television or pursuing our favorite hobby often seems so much more enjoyable than reading our Bible and praying. To the flesh, holding that grudge seems much more gratifying than forgiveness.  When we walk in the flesh we will not live by faith.  Living in the flesh will never produce lasting blessing.  All those promises our flesh brought to the decision table will never be kept.  Because living in the flesh is living in unbelief, God will not allow a believer to find true happiness when he or she pursues their flesh.  Lot, Abram’s nephew is a classic illustration of the consequences of living in the flesh.  This Sunday we will see Lot’s self-indulgent choices cost him everything… yet God is merciful!

New Members Class Beginning March 19th @ 9:25am

The Lord has blessed us with a number of new people in our church.  We are excited to see what God is doing as He builds His church.  The Bible teaches that spiritual accountability and church membership is Christ’s design for believers in this age.  Starting March 19th at 9:25am, I will be starting a new members class to introduce you to our church, answer questions that you might have, and explain how to become a member of River Reach Baptist Church.  If you are not yet a member of our church, I would be delighted to have you join us in this class.

Note: The regular adult Sunday class will continue as normal during this time for all others.

Children’s Workers Meeting after the Morning Service 3/19

We are so thankful for everyone who serves the Lord at River Reach Baptist Church.  I greatly appreciate those who serve in our children’s ministries.  It is our desire to minister to our children in a safe and organized environment.  If you currently work in the nursery, Sunday School, Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, or you are interested in helping in one of these areas, Pastor Dan will be holding a brief meeting after the morning service on 3/19 to introduce a new children’s workers policy for our church.  I believe this new policy will empower you in your ministry to children as well as provide an organized and safe environment for our children and for any new families the Lord brings into our fellowship.  If you have further questions, please contact Pastor Dan.

Taking Time to Change Group continues this Sunday evening.
